CO2 Measurement

Latest Measurement:

Yearly Measurement:

This up-to-date measurement of carbon dioxide particles refers to the number of CO2 particles present within a sample of one million atmospheric particles. The graph displays the Earth's climate trends according to CO2 measurements taken from various sources around and below the Earth's surface. The most significant changes in Earth's long-term climate have come as a result of the Industrial Revolution and the increased burning of fossil fuels to produce energy. Carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases contribute to the "greenhouse"-like heating effect on Earth.

Methane is a prominent greenhouse gas with a ppm rate that is four times higher than that of the carbon dioxide rate. For more information, visit https://climate.nasa.gov/evidence/
